The 20 Questions book tag! 😁

Hello!!

I was tagged for the 20 questions book tag by Iris, on her lovely blog, Hoard of books! Thanks Iris!!

Question #1:

how many books are too many in a book series?

hmm… It really depends  on lots of different things for me (how much I like the books* if they are easy to read etc.) but I’d say generally I really like 3 or 4 books…  I do love some longer series such as the mortal instruments (6 books) and Harry Potter! (7 books) also lots of others, those are just some of the longest series I’ve read that I can think of right now…

*obviously!

 

Question #2

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

Well… sometimes I love them… other times it’s just plain torture!! Like, they can be interesting if the series is oldish (that way you can probably get your hands on the next book) BUT if the next book isn’t out until months or sometimes years!!!* 😩😩😩

*queen of air and darkness!! Also muse of nightmares, I need now!!!!😫

hardbacks or paperbacks?

This is one thing I honestly don’t have much of an opinion on… I like paper backs as they are lighter and cheaper… hardbacks do look nice, but Then again, I like the way paperbacks look too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So if the book is out in paperback I’d most likely get that because 🤑 The only exception would be if the hardback has something really pretty that the paperback didn’t… such as GLITTER!!!!*

*I haven’t read song of the current… but omg that cover!! (Hardback anyway, I haven’t seen the paperback cover yet…) I almost bought it a little while ago, just for that cover!!

favorite book?

aaarrrgghhh!!!! This is such a hard question!! I honestly don’t think I have a single favourite book… so you’ll have to settle for a long short list! (Not In any particular order)

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling!!!!

all Cassandra Clare’s shadowhunter books!!!!

the land of stories by Chris Colfer!!!!

the mysterious benadict society series by Trenton Lee Stewart!!!

the penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall!!!*

the raven cycle by Maggie stiefvater!!

Warcross by Marie Lu!!!

since you’ve been gone by Morgan Matson!!!

strange the dreamer by Laini Taylor!!!

The illuminae files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff!!**

so that’s just some of them… but I love them all so much!!!

* it turns out there’s a new penderwick book out now!!!  I always knew there was going to be one more… but I’ve been looking for info on it for literally years and have been finding nothing…. (just proves how great my googling skills are😬) then my sister got it for her birthday!! So yay now I can read it!!! So excited😁 (although the Penderwicks in spring was a bit of a disappointment… it was still good… just not as good as the first ones!!!! So hopeing this ones more like those!!)

**I’v actually only read illuminae at this point… but I’m sure I’ll love Gemina and obsidio too!!!

Least favourite book?

this is really hard… I (luckily!) haven’t read a book that I really disliked in awhile!! BUT a reallllllly long time ago I read the goose girl… I absolutely hated it then.. so did my friend, but she reread it a bit more recently and said that she actually didn’t think it was all that bad now… so I’m not sure… but I haven’t been brave enough to reread it yet.

love triangles, yes or no?

Definitely a no… I find them mega annoying! But I have read some books I loved despite the love triangles.. but I’ve never read about a love triangle that I liked or thought added much to the story…

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

well… now that I’m thinking about it, the most recent book I have not finished is actually my lady jane!! 😱 I was really enjoying it too!! I believe I had some library books due so paused to read them then forgot about my lady jane!!! That’s on the top my TBR pile now!

I book your currently reading?

I’m currently reading six of crows (almost finished!) and Blue Lily Lily Blue. I loooooooooove both of them!!😍😍 oh and apparently I’m also reading my lady jane!!

hmmm..🤔 I think the last books I recommended to someone were the raven cycle… to my Sister 😁

Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

welllllllllllll I read Ballet shoes a few years ago… I think that was published in 1963? I’ve read part of little women (1869 I think??) 🙃 but I really don’t pay much attention to release date so I can’t be completely sure…

Newest book you’ve read (release date)

yikes! I’m not very good about reading new books… if the library doesn’t have it yet I tend to wait to look at some reviews before I buy it… unless it’s an author I love… but I think the newest was warcross?!?!😟 I know I know!! That’s hardly new anymore!! But I did read it a month ago… so a bit better??😝

I don’t have a favourite… I’ve got lots… all of the authors Of my favourite books (which I lister earlier in this post⬆️…) plus a ton more 😜

Buying books or borrowing books?

both are great!! I do really like to have my own copy of the book if I really love it, but I have great friends who let me borrow their books…* There’s also the library of course:)

*just to be clear, they are great for other reasons as well, not just because they lend me books!! But they do so that’s very nice!!

A book you disliked that everyone else seems to love?

this would have to be divergent…  I didn’t hate it, I just couldn’t care about any of the characters… I only read half of the first book though so maybe if I’d read more I’d like it better?? 🧐

Bookmarks or dog-ears?

definatly bookmarks, well more accurately recites!! I can never find bookmarks, I think because I take the bookmark out to read the book, put it down, then most likely move somewhere with my book and not the bookmark 🙁 but for some reason I find recites much simpler to keep track of… my sister got two Super cool bookmarks for her birthday! they clip on the front (or back I suppose) cover of your book (strong enough to not fall off, but not strong enough to rip your cover!!*) they have a ribbon attached to it so you can place that wherever you want it to hold your page!! Unfortunately she won’t give me one even though she has 2…😒

*that has happened to me and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover.😖

A book you can always re-read?

I’m not really much of a re-reader… BUT I will always re-read all of the books mentioned earlier in this post (faves!) as well as some others too… depends on my mood, really:)

Can you read while hearing music?

for the most part-nope. once in awhile I can… if it’s really boring dull music, otherwise I get too distracted 😝

multiple POV’s or one POV?  (POV’s = point of views)

definitely multiple POV’s! I find books so much more interesting and entertaining with all the different perspectives!!

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

normally multiple days… I could finish a book in one day if I had all day (which I don’t normally) but if I’m on vacation etc. Then I can read a book in one sitting😊
